XRP vs the Top 100 Coins Since 2018: I Had Claude Backtest Every One

Did XRP actually beat the rest of crypto? I used Claude AI to backtest XRP against every coin in CoinMarketCap's top 100 since 2018, plus BTC, ETH, SOL, BNB, TRX, ADA, XLM, HBAR and HYPE.

The setup: buy the same dollar amount on Jan 1, Apr 1, Jul 1 and Oct 1 of each year, hold until today, and compare.

What I found:
- Bought at its 2018 average price, XRP is up 2.15x. Only 9 of the 57 surviving coins from the 2018 top 100 did better. The typical coin lost about 90%.
- For every buying year from 2018 to 2024, XRP finished in the top 20% of that year's top 100.
- 2025 buyers are down about 39%. 30 coins did better that year.
- XRP lost to BNB, TRX and BTC in most years, and beat ADA, XLM and HBAR in most years.
